Archaeology

Large construction projects are often delayed by unexpected findings of archaeology. As a result, the construction projects become more expensive and very often the buried archaeology is partly destroyed by excavators. In Denmark (and Europe) national and local museums are adopting drone-based solutions for mapping of the surface, e.g., using visual inspection (camera), Lidar or multispectral cameras. However, looking into the subsurface requires the use of e.g. magnetic and EM sensors. CMAGTRES is currently developing and testing high-precision high-resolution sensor systems for detailed mapping of archaeology. We intend to use these systems to map and interpret existing archaeological artefacts and features throughout Europe in the near future. For more information, see ArkæoDrone.
