Geothermal fields
The “hot” area of geothermal fields can be mapping using magnetic data. As the temperature in the subsurface increases, the magnetization approaches its Curie temperature. By surveying geothermal fields we are able to map the hot boundaries of the field and thereby defining areas that are potentially favorable for heat extraction. CMAGTRES is currently looking into this opportunity at geothermal fields in Italy and Bulgaria together with researchers at DTU Civil Engineering.
